Over two days, Putin dismissed Russia’s ambassadors to the United Kingdom and France. The Kremlin said it “will not hurry” to appoint new ones

“In light of the absence of bilateral relations with these countries, there is especially no need to hurry, so there may be pauses in replacing ambassadors,” presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov said.

On September 25, Vladimir Putin issued a decree relieving Andrey Kelin of his duties as Russia’s ambassador to the United Kingdom and Northern Ireland. Kelin had held the post since 2019.

Alexey Meshkov had been Russia’s ambassador to France since 2017. Putin relieved him of the post the day before Kelin, on September 24.
