In Russia, for the first time a fine has been imposed for criticizing the Taliban

The Oktyabrsky District Court of Rostov-on-Don fined a local resident under the administrative article on incitement of hatred over a comment on VKontakte under a post about the Taliban.

According to Ostorozhno, Novosti, this is 19-year-old Yegor A. (in the court ruling found by Meduza, his surname is given and it says that he works at Aerotech).

The comment that became the basis for the case read: “What the f\\\ are they doing in Russia, cave-dwelling c\\\s.”

The court ruled that it “incites hatred or enmity between the peoples of the Russian Federation and Afghanistan.” Yegor A. was also charged over two more comments concerning migrants.

The court ruling says that the defendant admitted guilt and repented. The amount of the fine is 10,000 rubles.
