The State Duma has banned the deportation of foreigners who signed contracts with Russia’s Defense Ministry. And it has increased fees for migrants

Lawmakers passed in the third reading a bill that prohibits the deportation of foreigners who served under contract with the Defense Ministry and took part in combat operations. This includes, among others, foreigners who took part in the war against Ukraine on Russia’s side.

Parliamentarians also increased by several times the fees paid by foreigners living in Russia for processing documents. For example, the fee for obtaining a residence permit will rise from six thousand to 30 thousand rubles, and for obtaining Russian citizenship from 4.2 thousand to 50 thousand rubles.

Foreigners who signed contracts avoid deportation, while document fees were sharply raised.
