One of Russia’s largest hosting providers reported partial unavailability of some sites due to an “update to TSPU settings” by Roskomnadzor

Hosting provider Beget said on June 5 that some resources serviced by the company were experiencing “partial unavailability” for a number of users because of an “update to TSPU settings” by Roskomnadzor, Vyorstka noticed.

“This problem is intermittent in nature and is connected to an update to TSPU settings by Roskomnadzor. The problem does not affect all of our users and depends on the combination of telecom operator, region, and browser being used,” the company said on its social media.

On June 8, Beget reported that the company had sent a letter to the “relevant authorities” back on June 5 and is still waiting for information on the status of the changes in traffic-filtering logic. According to the provider, users of other major companies are facing similar problems as well. Beget did not specify what exactly the “update to TSPU settings” consists of.

In the comments, users are reporting mass disruptions in the operation of websites. Some of them are company employees and business owners whose businesses have suffered because of this.

For example, an employee of a garment manufacturer in Novosibirsk said the company’s website has not been opening for residents of Siberia for the third day already, while working correctly in other cities. Another user complained that half of his clients in Moscow cannot open the website, causing the number of orders to fall.
