Varvara Kosheleva told RusNews about the attack. According to the outlet, when Kosheleva and her husband drove up to their home, they were met by men who “introduced themselves as participants in the special military operation.” They put a can of beer on Kosheleva’s car and “began using rude language,” and after they were reprimanded, a scuffle broke out.

“They immediately started saying that we were traitors to the Motherland, that they were fighting for people like us, and that we were ungrateful bastards,” Kosheleva said.

Doctors recorded bruises to the soft tissues of her head, swelling of the soft tissues of her nose, and multiple bruises on her face, RusNews writes. In addition, the activist complained of a headache, dizziness, and nausea.

Ahead of the State Duma elections, Kosheleva headed the campaign office of Anna Shatunovskaya-Burno, who ran for Yabloko in a single-mandate district.
