The update to the standards for preschool institutions was announced in an interview with RIA Novosti by the head of the ministry, Sergei Kravtsov.

“We are preparing an update to the standard and the federal preschool education program to strengthen ties with families in carrying out educational tasks. This is the main condition for protecting the future of our children,” he said.

The minister emphasized that kindergarten should remain a space for upbringing, not merely preparation for school.

“Introduction to native culture, literature, customs, and moral guideposts is more important than memorizing letters and numbers in kindergarten,” he added, noting that this very emphasis will form the basis of the forthcoming changes to the federal state educational standard for preschool education.
