Putin said that “we are entitled to expect” a cut in the Central Bank’s key rate

"Inflation is falling, already a little over five percent, so I think that we are entitled to expect a cut in the key rate and the achievement of other necessary parameters," Vladimir Putin said.

At its meeting in April 2026, the Central Bank lowered the key rate to 14.5%, by 0.5 percentage points, just as it had at the previous four meetings. According to the Central Bank’s forecast, the average key rate in 2026 will continue to decline and amount to 14–14.5%, and in 2027 — 8–10%.
