A court in Russia has banned the films Call Me by Your Name starring Timothee Chalamet and Kill Your Darlings starring Daniel Radcliffe

The Krasnogvardeysky District Court of St. Petersburg has banned the films Love, Simon, Kill Your Darlings, and Call Me by Your Name. The court ruled that these films contain a "destructive ideology," and that they themselves "arouse interest in non-traditional sexual relationships" and are aimed at "changing a negative attitude toward them into a positive one."

The film Call Me by Your Name, directed by Luca Guadagnino, was released in 2017. One of the leading roles in it was played by Timothee Chalamet. In 2018, the film won an Oscar in the Best Adapted Screenplay category. The film is based on the novel by Andre Aciman. It tells the story of 17-year-old Elio, who falls in love with his father's assistant, the young American scholar Oliver.

The film Kill Your Darlings was directed by John Krokidas and released in 2013. It tells the story of the young years of members of the Beat Generation, including Allen Ginsberg, William Burroughs, and Jack Kerouac.
