Owners of Russian websites will be fined over users who log in with foreign email accounts (for example, Gmail)

The State Duma passed in both the second and third (final) readings a bill that introduces fines for website owners who allow users to log in with foreign email accounts.

Under a law passed back in 2023, website owners were required to authorize users located in Russia in one of three ways: using a Russian phone number, using Gosuslugi, or using a Russian service.

Citizens will be fined between 10,000 and 20,000 rubles, officials between 30,000 and 50,000 rubles, and legal entities between 500,000 and 700,000 rubles.
