Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer the issue of using 2.4 billion pounds. These are the funds raised from Roman Abramovich’s sale of the Chelsea football club.

Zelensky said that some of this money could be used to buy air defense missiles in order to better protect Ukraine’s energy infrastructure from Russian strikes.

The money has remained frozen since 2022. Under the agreement between Abramovich and the UK government, it is supposed to be used to help those affected by the war, but for four years now the businessman and the authorities have been unable to agree on the specific terms for transferring the funds.
