A new EU sanctions package may include an entry ban for all participants in the invasion of Ukraine
The president of the European Commission, Ursula von der Leyen, announced this while presenting the proposals for the 21st sanctions package.
According to her, the proposal is to ban entry into the EU for everyone who has served in the Russian army "since the start of the war."
The sanctions list is also proposed to include up to 90 Russian banks, which would be the largest single expansion of sanctions against Russia's banking sector, Reuters writes. That would bring the total number of sanctioned Russian banks to more than 100.
The European Commission also proposed banning transactions with 35 Russian banks, as well as about a dozen cryptocurrency platforms that are alleged to help Russia evade sanctions.
