Russia is being forced to recruit students literally from university desks not because life is good. Every month, Russian troops in Ukraine lose 30,000-35,000 killed and wounded — even in the fifth year of the war, Russian commanders have come up with nothing better than meat-grinder infantry assaults. They cannot simply stop the war, because it is important for Putin to go down in history as a conqueror-tsar, so now even students are being driven into the Ukrainian kill zone.

Last week we published the first part of the list of 1,059 students who were recruited while studying at university. Former schoolkids were promised million-ruble payouts and easy service in UAV units, but we understand perfectly well that what the Russian army primarily lacks is assault troops.
