The State Duma has allowed citizens with unexpunged or outstanding convictions under articles on smuggling, banditry, and organizing illegal migration to sign a contract with the Defense Ministry during mobilization

RBC reports that deputies adopted in the second and third readings a bill expanding the possibilities for signing a contract with the Russian Armed Forces.

The expanded list includes Criminal Code articles concerning:

🔹smuggling: cash, narcotic drugs, pathogenic biological agents, weapons, nuclear materials, or explosives;

🔹organized crime: banditry and organizing a criminal community;

🔹security violations: unlawful entry into protected facilities, violations of security at fuel and energy complex facilities, and illegal handling of nuclear materials;

🔹loss of documents containing state secrets;

🔹organizing illegal migration;

🔹theft of nuclear materials.

The Russian government submitted the document to the State Duma on July 17.
