Estonia accused Russian intelligence services of setting fire to the Milrem Robotics defense company building in Tallinn
Estonia recognized the arson attack on the Milrem Robotics defense company building as an act of sabotage carried out on orders from Russian intelligence services. The country's foreign minister, Margus Tsahkna, citing data from Estonia's Internal Security Service, said:
This act of sabotage is part of a broader Russian campaign across Europe aimed at intimidating us and weakening our support for Ukraine. Our response will be the opposite. We will increase our support for Ukraine and pressure on Russia so that it ends its aggression.
On September 29, Estonia's Foreign Ministry summoned Russia's charge d'affaires Lenar Salimullin.
The Kremlin called the accusations by Estonian authorities “groundless, reckless, completely detached from reality, and containing no argumentation whatsoever.”
The fire at the Milrem Robotics defense enterprise building in Tallinn broke out on the night of August 15. No one was injured. Three people were detained in the arson case, all of them Latvian citizens.
Milrem Robotics manufactures unmanned ground military equipment; its products, including THeMIS tracked robots, are used by Ukraine.
