Foreign Ministry Warns Against Travel to Thailand, Where “Washington Has Launched a Real ‘Hunt’ for Russians”

Russia’s Foreign Ministry urged people to “exercise extreme caution regarding travel to Thailand both for leisure and for business purposes due to the high risk of detention or arrest in that country at the request of U.S. law enforcement agencies and intelligence services.”

The statement says that “this country, popular with Russian tourists and friendly toward us, remains one of the places where Washington has launched a real ‘hunt’ for Russians.”

🔵Last year in Thailand, Russian national Denis Obrezko was detained at the request of the American authorities. He is a graduate of the FSB Academy of Cryptography. He worked in structures that were linked to the leak of Navalny’s Smart Voting project, the outlet Agentstvo wrote.

In 2024, members of the band Bi-2 were also held in prison in Thailand. According to TV Rain, in that case it was the Russian consulate that insisted on extraditing the anti-war musicians to Russia.
