A State Duma deputy said that Russia is “on the brink of a social explosion” and demanded a “public plan” for ending the war

State Duma deputy from the Communist Party, Vyacheslav Markhayev, said that “corruption scandals” in Russia are combined with “ongoing losses of the most active and reproductive part of the population due to ineffective leadership.”

“What would an external enemy do if it captured Russia? It would appropriate resources, plunder industry, jack up tariffs, build mansions for itself. But no invasion took place — the authorities managed to do this themselves, more effectively than any aggressor,” the deputy’s Telegram channel says.

Markhayev said that “the country is on the brink of a social explosion, and all responsibility for this will fall on the irremovable authorities,” calling for “an end to the unjustified growth of housing and utility tariffs,” to “restore a fair pricing system,” and to present “a clear, public plan for ending the SMO, based on Russia’s national interests.”
