“I don’t want to return to the front”: a wounded Colombian appealed to Colombia’s president for help getting him back home

Duvan Alexis Acosta Flores from Caquetá, Colombia, was recruited into the Russian army and sent to the war against Ukraine.

At the front, after an encounter with a drone, he suffered severe leg wounds. Duvan is now in Surgical Hospital No. 54 in Kazan.

From his hospital room, with his legs bandaged, he recorded an appeal to the president of Colombia asking for urgent help in returning home.

And he knows what to fear. After he is discharged, he will be sent back into assaults.

For the Russian army, foreigners are expendable material. As long as a person can fight, he is sent into battle. If he is wounded, he is given minimal treatment so he can be returned to the front line faster.

Duvan has already understood where his Russian “job” has brought him. Now he wants only one thing — to survive and return home.
