In Saratov Region, “death benefits” for the families of participants in the war in Ukraine who were killed have been cut tenfold

At the same time, payments have been introduced for convicts who decide to go to war.

Instead of 1 million rubles, the families of war participants who were killed will be paid 100,000 rubles — in equal shares for each family member.

The decree will take effect on November 1, 2026, and will apply only to those who apply for the regional payment after that date. Applications for the benefit must be submitted within six months of the serviceman’s death.

In addition, the region is introducing a payment of 450,000 rubles for convicts who sign a contract with the Defense Ministry between October 1 and December 31, 2026.

The one-time payment is being introduced for those who have a criminal record, as well as for those who have committed minor or medium-gravity crimes but whose preliminary investigation has been suspended at the request of the command of a military unit.
