NATO has urged Russia to stop its “irresponsible nuclear rhetoric”

Russia warned NATO that it is ready to resort to nuclear weapons if the alliance attempts to cut off Kaliningrad. Reuters reviewed the document sent to NATO.

In that document, the agency notes, Moscow accused the alliance of pursuing a “dangerous and reckless course” involving a “high risk of a direct armed conflict.”

Russia will be ready to use the entire arsenal of forces and means at its disposal, including nuclear weapons, to protect its territory if NATO countries make any attempt aimed at isolating Kaliningrad Region from the rest of the country,

the diplomatic note says.

In NATO’s written response, which the agency also reviewed, the alliance emphasizes that it is defensive.

No NATO exercises or actions pose a threat to the territory of the Russian Federation,

the statement says.

NATO also urged Russia to stop its full-scale invasion of Ukraine and its “irresponsible nuclear rhetoric.”
