During the part of the congress open to the press, Yashin’s deputies were chosen as Yelena Kotyonochkina, Konstantin Kosov, and Olga Prokopyeva, who received 74, 58, and 54 votes respectively.

More than a hundred candidates registered for the congress.

🔹Yashin’s rivals for the post of party chairman were Olga Podolskaya and Roxana Kiselyova. As a result of the vote, Yashin received 68 votes, Podolskaya 40 votes, and Kiselyova one vote.

The first day of the congress was held behind closed doors. It considered three founding issues: the manifesto, the party’s name, and its charter.

🔹“We are a party of peace, we are a party of freedom, we are a party of justice, a party of a just social order. These are our three core values, this is the vision that we offer Russian society,” Yashin told journalists.

He noted that the party is counting on building a dialogue with the international community.

🔹“We are creating the party precisely in order to fight for power in Russia. And in order to be a subject of international relations. We are interested in building an entire network of political representatives at different levels. Today, I hope, one of the deputies will be elected who will oversee this line of work. We are interested in contacts with the West in order to organize a system of political representation to protect the interests of anti-war Russians. And our ambitious task is to occupy positions at different levels, at least in Europe, wherever such an opportunity appears,” the politician said.

Answering a question about funding for the movement, Yashin said that the party currently “has several supporters who help us with money, who in fact helped organize this congress.”

🔹“We are not naming them because we do not want them to face criminal charges for financing ‘extremism,’” he added.

Yashin also stressed that Peaceful Russia is not an immigrant party.

🔹“We were created abroad, but we are not an immigrant party. We are a party that certainly will be in Russia sooner or later,” he concluded.

🔵Later, the congress participants are to simultaneously hold elections to the party’s political council, audit body, and arbitration body. Candidates for the political council include Maxim Reznik, Darya Serenko, Kirill Ishutin, Maria Ivanova, Zalina Marshenkulova, Sergei Davidis, Sergei Gulyayev, Sergei Kovalyov, Ksenia Fadeyeva, Andrei Fadeyev, and others. Vladimir Milov withdrew his candidacy.

🔵Yashin himself nominated FBK co-founder Vladimir Ashurkov to the political council.
