Mobilized in the fall of 2022, Oleg Markov managed to change several military specialties during his service: he was an assistant grenade launcher operator, an artilleryman, and an operator in an ATGM crew. However, the end of his army career turned out to be entirely typical for the Russian army: an infantry assault.
Oleg was sent on the assault after a stay in the so-called “recovery regiment” — a distribution point for wounded servicemen. From there, soldiers are often taken by units experiencing personnel shortages, after which they are sent to the most dangerous sections of the front and into infantry assaults with minimal chances of survival.
