Since 2022, at least 84 Russian political prisoners have been sent for compulsory treatment in psychiatric hospitals, OVD-Info calculated (this measure is also used in Russia against those convicted under other articles). Over two years, staff from the human rights project APUS spoke with prisoners who ended up in psychiatric inpatient facilities, lawyers, psychiatrists, former FSIN employees, journalists, and human rights defenders. In the report "You Will Not Get Out of Here," they describe how Soviet practices of punitive psychiatry are being used nowadays.
