For the first time in 30 years, there will be no military hardware at the May 9 parade in Moscow.
The Defense Ministry has decided to forgo tanks, APCs, and other ground vehicles. The official reason is “the current situation.”
What will remain:
➖marching columns of cadets
➖aviation.
This has happened before: in 1995, for the 50th anniversary of Victory, it was decided to focus on living veterans rather than saber-rattling.
Since the start of the war in Ukraine, there has always been hardware, albeit on a smaller scale:
⏺2023 — only a T-34 and a few other units (the most modest at that point)
⏺2024 — also a minimum: T-34, BTR-82A, Iskanders, S-400s, Yars
⏺2025 — it was an anniversary parade, so hardware was shown
For comparison: in the “fat” years (2015–2021), they rolled out 130 to 190 pieces of hardware at the parade, including the Armata, Yars, S-400, etc.
