For the first time, a citizen of a Central Asian country surrendered through the “I Want to Live” project!

A labor migrant from Tajikistan, who had worked in Russia for many years as a builder and a blacksmith, ended up at the front after being detained and placed in a temporary detention center for migrants. There, he and another migrant agreed to sign a contract for the war in order to avoid deportation. He later deeply regretted that decision.

The first assault ended with him being wounded. During the second deployment, the hero of the video was left without food or water, abandoned by his commander to fend for himself. He survived for two weeks by collecting rainwater and eating expired food from a dump. He could not retreat, because for that they “zero you out.” In despair, he was about to inflict a self-wound on himself with amputation of his arm, but his fellow sufferer had a much better idea: to turn to the “I Want to Live” project.

Thanks to that, the two of them were evacuated during a joint operation by the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine and the Third Army Corps. Drone operators from the 66th Mechanized Brigade guided them and supplied them with water, food, and communications throughout the entire route. We already wrote more about how the evacuation took place.

“They met us. They said, guys, don’t be offended, but you smell like dogs. Which was fair enough, we hadn’t bathed for 20 days, we were living in inhuman conditions. They took us to their place, gave us a chance to wash, gave us fresh underwear... We changed clothes, they sat us at the table, fed us dinner, gave us tea, and put us to bed.

Then I said: ‘Well, guys, I don’t know where else enemies are received like this.’ And they answered me: ‘Well, that’s the kind of “fascists” we are. That’s how much they’re filling your ears over there,’ he says. I said: ‘Well, guys, I just... I have no words except admiration and words of gratitude...’

The former serviceman is now safe in the status of a prisoner of war under the protection of the Geneva Conventions.
