Ukraine disabled both key units at the Moscow oil refinery. The plant has halted operations for at least several days

During the attack on the oil refinery in Kapotnya, Ukrainian drones damaged the Euro+ oil-processing block, Reuters sources reported.

The block includes the AVT-6 crude distillation unit with a nominal capacity of 140,000 barrels per day, accounting for 47% of the plant’s primary processing capacity.

The main primary oil-processing unit was damaged, Carnegie Eurasia Center expert Sergei Vakulenko told Agentstvo. It is one of the refinery’s two key units, producing feedstock for commercial fuel production at other units.

In total, the plant has two AVTs. The first AVT-6 unit, which accounts for 53% of the plant’s capacity, was also damaged during Ukraine’s previous strike on the plant, carried out on June 16.

The oil refinery supplies Moscow with fuel and is critically important for the region. Because of the two attacks, the plant presumably will not operate for several days.
