“Trying to justify things like this is illogical.” A Telegram channel close to Russia’s Defense Ministry on the strike on the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra
The Telegram channel Rybar, which is close to Russia’s Defense Ministry, effectively admitted that Russian forces struck the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra in Ukraine’s capital. The channel’s authors accused other Z-bloggers of inconsistency over their posts about the attack.
“The desire to zealously justify things like this after what has happened over four years of the SMO is illogical and inexplicable,” Rybar says. According to the channel’s authors, other Z-bloggers “brand the leadership for showing pity to the enemy” and call to “burn Kyiv in nuclear ash.”
“But the moment you follow those calls even by an iota and hit the roof of the Kyiv Lavra (even without casualties), part of that very same blogosphere races to tell everyone that it’s all fake and a conspiracy in general. Adding without sarcasm: ‘Well, we’re not like that!’” the post’s authors add.
Russia launched a massive strike on Kyiv on June 15. As a result of the attack, the Dormition Cathedral of the Kyiv Pechersk Lavra caught fire. Russia’s Defense Ministry said that the Lavra was hit by a missile from a U.S.-made Patriot air defense system.
