On the morning of October 3, Russian forces struck the Northern Bridge in Kyiv. The roadway and the trolleybus overhead contact network were damaged. Traffic on the bridge was partially blocked, Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko said.
Before that, on October 1 and 2, Russia had attacked Kyiv’s Southern Bridge with drones at least three times, damaging a support, a guardrail, the roadway, and the subway’s protective concrete barrier. Traffic on the bridge was completely halted.
In total, Kyiv has nine bridges across the Dnipro (road, pedestrian, and railway bridges). The Northern and Southern bridges are among the most important and busiest transport arteries across the river.
