Mathematician Mikhail Verbitsky was able to leave Armenia


This is reported by Meduza, citing Verbitsky’s lawyer Vache Simonyan. The mathematician flew to Israel.


It became known on June 12 that Mikhail Verbitsky had been detained in Yerevan. The scientist’s wife, Yulia Fridman, said that two criminal cases had been opened against him in Russia, for “discrediting” the army and “justifying terrorism.” On June 13, it became known that Verbitsky would not be extradited to Russia. Yesterday he was released from custody.
