The Federal Penitentiary Service told RIA and TASS that one of the prisoners being escorted in a carriage of the Vladikavkaz — Adler train attacked an officer and killed him. At the same time, it clarified that “no riot took place.”

“One of the prisoners being transported attacked an escort officer, inflicting fatal wounds on him. The information about prisoners taking hostages is not true,” an Interfax source said

According to Baza and Mash, a convict sentenced under Article 228 snatched a rifle from an escort officer and opened fire on Federal Penitentiary Service staff when he was being taken to the toilet. One of them later died on the way to the hospital, and three others were wounded. The prisoner himself was killed by return fire.
