Several Telegram channels close to security forces named Syromyatnikov as the victim of the explosion. The Novomoskovsk Today portal has also published an obituary about Syromyatnikov’s “tragic” death, Astra noted.
As a result of the tragic events that occurred yesterday in the city, Roman Syromyatnikov — a teacher, writer, participant in the special military operation, known for his active work in patriotic education of young people — is no longer with us,
the media report says.
Earlier, VChK-OGPU wrote that an explosive device had been planted under the bottom of the car on the driver’s side. Officials have not commented on the explosion.
🔵Syromyatnikov worked as a teacher in Novomoskovsk and regularly wrote about students’ participation in the war. Earlier, he fought as part of the airborne company of the 51st Regiment of the 106th Tula Airborne Division. In Ukraine, he was accused of torturing Ukrainian prisoners of war in Tula Penal Colony No. 1 and was put on a wanted list, Astra specifies. In October 2025, Syromyatnikov was added to the Myrotvorets database.
