Putin traveled outside Moscow and St. Petersburg for the first time in seven months


June 17-18, Vladimir Putin is visiting Kazan, where the Russia-ASEAN summit is taking place. As Faridaily notes, this is the Russian president's first trip to a region in the past seven months. Before that, he visited Samara in November 2025.


The outlet calculated that over the past six months Putin has almost stopped traveling around Russia. From January through May, he officially left Moscow only twice, and both times he went to St. Petersburg. In 2025, during the same period, he made eight regional trips.


According to a Faridaily source close to the Kremlin, Putin's refusal to travel around the country is connected to security considerations.
