The War Through the Eyes of Meduza Readers. Today We Are Publishing a Letter From Igor in Shchyolkovo
What scares me most is when, in news about shelling, Meduza posts screenshots from Telegram channels. The little fire and laughing icons under every strike. Children were killed in a dorm in Luhansk, and everyone is happy and putting fire emojis. A residential building in Dnipro was shelled, and now others are happy and laughing. A missile hit a market, people were killed, someone was wounded, someone was ruined, and the top reactions are always the fire and laughing emojis. And it does not matter which side, it does not matter who died. Gloating laughter will be on top.
The whole war is one continuous laugh from those who were not hit, at those they do not know. And the war will go on as long as people think this is normal, because it pleases them and it is done for them. As long as you rejoice at deaths, the old men at the top will keep waging war, and it does not matter where it is fought: Ukraine, Iran, Cuba, Transnistria, Chechnya, Armenia, the former Yugoslavia…
This is a concert by popular request, because you are glad of it. Bread and circuses. And when there is no bread, they give you circuses.
