United Russia Says the Party Has Nothing to Do With Internet Bans

Sergei Boyarsky, a member of United Russia’s general council and a State Duma deputy, said that his party has nothing to do with the “bans that are now on everyone’s lips,” including on the internet, Zaks.ru writes.

“United Russia in fact has absolutely nothing to do directly with the bans that are now on everyone’s lips, or with those initiatives. Our political competitors are twisting everything. You know, there’s an expression for it, making something out of nothing,” Boyarsky said.

He said that United Russia had passed federal laws that “set one set of rules for everyone,” and that the parliamentary opposition had also voted for them.

“But when the leader of A Just Russia comes out and says, ‘Bastards! Who the hell is throttling Telegram,’ when he himself voted for the adoption of this law (and we have recorded roll-call voting), that smacks of political schizophrenia or, so to speak, simply provocation,” Boyarsky said.

🩵Earlier, Vyorstka wrote that against the backdrop of Telegram being slowed down and disruptions to mobile internet, irritation and fear have started to rise among United Russia’s electorate. Discontent among typical United Russia voters has grown, a source in the federal structure of the ruling party told Vyorstka.
