“New ideas” are needed for a peace agreement between Russia and Ukraine

US Secretary of State Marco Rubio shared this view with journalists after meeting today with Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.

According to him, the proposals put forward so far were “unacceptable to Ukraine then.” In his view, the head of the State Department believes, they are now “even less acceptable” to Kyiv. He did not specify which proposals he was referring to.

“If peace does come, it will happen thanks to some new ideas and new concepts. And we are ready to propose some of them — under the right conditions, in the right format, if such an opportunity presents itself,” Rubio added.
