The European Union sanctions Putin’s “confessor” Tikhon Shevkunov

Metropolitan Tikhon (Shevkunov), who is called “Putin’s confessor,” was added to the sanctions list for his “active role in spreading Russian propaganda and disinformation aimed at justifying Russia’s armed aggression against Ukraine.”

Also placed on the sanctions list for Russia’s hybrid activities against the EU were the Presidential Fund for Cultural Initiatives, former children’s ombudsman Pavel Astakhov, Z-bloggers Roman Antonovsky and Roman Fyodorov, host of the propaganda show “Time Will Tell” Anatoly Kuzichev, RT Documentary producer Olga Kiriy, and RT columnist Igor Maltsev.

In addition, sanctions were imposed on Rostec executive director Oleg Yevtushenko, as well as the companies Lukoil-Western Siberia and Gazpromneft Shipping.

🔵Overall, the European Union today added more than 80 individuals and legal entities to its sanctions lists.
