Sergey Zaitsev, chairman of the “Call of the People” movement, told UTV that he had appealed to the administration of the head of Bashkiria with a request to replace the singer’s portrait with an image of “a patriot or hero of Russia.” In response, the authorities promised to “work through the issue of updating the mural” while taking public opinion into account.

In 2023, Russia’s Justice Ministry designated Zemfira a foreign agent.
