A Tu-22M3 crashed in the Irkutsk region
Mash and Caution, News reported the crash of a military aircraft near Svirsk. The Tu-22M3 fell on the bank of the Angara, preliminarily due to engine failure.
Eyewitnesses claim they saw crew members jump from the aircraft with parachutes.
Russia's Defense Ministry confirmed that the plane crashed while approaching for landing during a scheduled training flight, and that the crew ejected. According to the ministry, there was no damage on the ground.
The Tu-22M3 is a long-range supersonic missile-carrying bomber. The aircraft can carry nuclear weapons.
