Ukraine proposed that Russia hold a meeting between Zelensky and Putin at the G7 summit

According to a source for the outlet RBC-Ukraine, Kyiv sent the proposal to the Kremlin through various channels: intermediaries, diplomats, and intelligence services.

The proposal was for talks between Volodymyr Zelensky and Vladimir Putin in the presence of the leaders of the Group of Seven (G7), in particular U.S. President Donald Trump.

But Ukraine did not receive a clear response from Russia, the source said. Instead, an aide to the Russian president, while reporting the day before on a phone call between Putin and Trump, suggested that Zelensky "come to Moscow."

Then the shelling on the night of June 15 followed, which in Kyiv was regarded to some extent as a "response" to the proposal, the outlet writes.

Earlier, Zelensky told reporters that he had proposed to Moscow holding a meeting with Putin at the G7 summit in France this week for talks on ending the war, but Russia "was not ready to talk" and did not respond to the proposal.
