Drones Attacked Two Merchant Ships in the Black Sea off Bulgaria’s Coast
Drones attacked two merchant ships in the Black Sea off Bulgaria’s coast
Two vessels were hit in an attack by naval and aerial drones, Bulgarian Prime Minister Rumen Radev said.
The crew of the first vessel, which was carrying grain, was rescued; two people were injured. The second vessel, sailing under the flag of Togo, sank, Reuters writes. The cargo of the second vessel has not been reported. Its crew is listed as missing.
Agency sources in the shipping industry said that, apparently, this is the first such attack in the waters of Bulgaria’s exclusive economic zone.
Radev did not say who the drones belonged to, but mentioned Russia’s war in Ukraine.
“If this war is not stopped in time, it will continue to expand its geographical scope and increase the risk of even a global conflict,” Bulgaria’s prime minister said.
