According to Fontanka, a source close to the investigation said that the case materials mention bribes totaling 80 million rubles. On October 6, the court is due to choose a pretrial restraint measure for Vasilyev.
Before being appointed to Patriot, Vasilyev was an auditor at the Accounts Chamber, headed Rosreestr and Kirov Oblast, and also served as deputy head of Rosstat.
Vasilyev’s detention was preceded by the arrests of two of his deputies. On October 2, one of them was sent to a pretrial detention center in a bribery case, and the other on fraud charges. According to investigators, they received about 100 million rubles from businesspeople for helping them obtain contracts and then fictitiously close them.
