Putin and Trump hold a phone call; Russia proposes organizing a ceasefire for the Victory Day celebrations
This was reported by Vladimir Putin aide Yury Ushakov.
According to him, Russia initiated the conversation, which lasted about an hour and a half. Putin and Trump discussed the prospects for joint projects in the economy and energy sectors; in addition, the American president supported the “readiness of Russia to declare a ceasefire” during the “days of the Victory Day celebrations.”
“At Trump’s request, Vladimir Putin described the current situation along the line of contact, where our troops are maintaining the strategic initiative and pushing back the enemy’s positions,” Ushakov added.
He noted that Trump’s envoys “will continue contacts with both Moscow and Kyiv.”
“Both Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump expressed, in essence, similar assessments of the behavior of the Kyiv regime headed by Zelensky, which, incited by the Europeans and with their support, is pursuing a course toward prolonging the conflict (in Ukraine — ed. note),” Ushakov said.
