⚡️Paraguay, Honduras, Ecuador: Russian Armed Forces mercenaries from distant Latin American countries are surrendering.

In 2026, Latin America became one of the fastest-growing sources for recruiting foreigners into the Russian army. And although Russia has not stopped recruiting in African countries, thanks to public outcry and diplomatic pressure from some African countries, as we can see, the Russians are being forced to switch to other regions.

This is very clearly visible in the growth in the number of prisoners of war. In fact, in the first nine months of 2026, four times more citizens of Latin American countries were captured than in all previous years combined.

One of them is Wilson Noel Quintero Guzman, a former officer in the Honduran army, where he served from 2013 to 2024. In July 2026, looking for work, he came to Russia and signed a contract with the Russian Armed Forces.

With him was Caceres Bogado Marcos Nahuel from Paraguay, who had previously worked as a truck driver.

They were offered documents to sign, but were not given a proper chance to translate them or read their contents. Then the group was taken to a bank, where each of them was given one million rubles. Part of the money was spent on uniforms, and the remaining funds, along with their documents, were taken by their handler.

Unlike many foreign mercenaries, who are first sent at least for formal basic training, Guzman and Nahuel were sent to positions in Sumy region almost immediately.

There, after a failed assault, their group tried to pull back, but a Russian blocking detachment opened fire on them, trying to force them to keep moving forward. Guzman returned fire. Two Russian servicemen were killed in the shootout.

After that, the group decided not to continue the fight and to move toward the Armed Forces of Ukraine to surrender.

Ecuadorian citizen Wilson Mesias Vascones Lopez fell into the hands of Russian recruiters through Facebook. He was offered “well-paid work in security.” The recruiter, who introduced herself as a girl named Valeria, said that Russia allegedly lacked security guards and was ready to pay foreigners a lot of money.

By early June, Lopez was already in Podolsk, where he signed a contract with the Russian Armed Forces.

Lopez ended up among assault troops whose task is to try, in pairs, to pass through Ukrainian positions into their rear. With him was a Russian pensioner, with whom he walked through the forest for 11 days without food or water. On the 12th day, his companion lost his strength, and they stopped. Lopez asked his commander for help over the radio, but neither water nor food was delivered to them. Three days later, the pensioner died of exhaustion, and Lopez reached Ukrainian positions and surrendered.

The stories of these people differ in the details, but the scheme remains the same: promises of earnings, recruitment thousands of kilometers from home, no proper training, and being sent one way into senseless assaults.

If you are offered “work in Russia” with a high salary, remember: such offers are usually backed by slave traders from the Russian Armed Forces. There is no easy way out of this military slavery.
