Authorities say Russia has too many people with higher education

Russia has ended up with a surplus of people with higher education, and the mass drive by schoolchildren to enroll in universities runs counter to the needs of the labor market, said Valery Falkov, the head of the Ministry of Science and Higher Education. The minister believes the current situation poses a problem for the country’s economy.

“The demand for higher education that has been formed over decades pulls in practically every school graduate... This is not good, this is not right... There is no such need for universal higher education”
