More than 60% of Russians said in closed sociological studies conducted before the United Russia primaries that they feel tired of the war with Ukraine. Faridaily writes this, citing a source in the party and a sociologist familiar with the poll results.

“The number of people ready to accept an outcome [of the war] short of victory is growing,” the sociologist said.

“In focus groups, voters openly say: we need a resolution [to the conflict]. We are waiting for a resolution so that the war ends one way or another. If you can hit harder, hit harder. If you can do something else, do it,” this is how a source in the United Russia leadership described voters’ mood.

A sense of fatigue also prevails among the elites. “Everyone is tired of the war. Nothing is happening [...] It is moving neither forward nor backward,” Faridaily quotes one government official as saying.

He added that there is no “defeatist mood” at the same time: “People do not want to give up. It is more like a demand to the boss [Vladimir Putin]: you always knew how to solve problems. So solve this one.”

Another source close to the government noted: “No one really understands what the military plan is. And the future in general is unclear.”
