A member of the “Yastreb PMC” was sentenced to five years in a penal colony for torturing a war correspondent who was buried in a coffin for 12 days

RBC reports that on May 22, a court in Kursk sentenced Ivan Timokhov, call sign “Timokha,” to five years in a maximum-security penal colony in the case involving the torture of Roman Semenov, known as “Samurai.”

Timokhov was found guilty of exceeding official authority with the use of torture.

The crime took place in the Belgorod region in the fall of 2024. According to the security forces’ version, Timokhov, acting on orders from the leadership of the “Yastreb PMC,” placed Semenov in a “wooden structure dug into the ground.” He spent 12 days there.

Semenov said that on September 8, 2024, he was abducted near a metro station in St. Petersburg, taken to the Belgorod region, tortured, and then placed in a coffin “for two weeks.” On October 2, he was freed by officers of the military Investigative Committee.

He himself linked what happened to his investigation into the activities of the “Yastreb PMC” and his work for the magazine “Union of Nationalities.”
