A court in Baku handed prison terms to eight more Russians detained in 2025 amid worsening relations between Russia and Azerbaijan

They were accused in Baku of trafficking and distributing drugs from Iran and cyber fraud.

Anton Drachev, Sergei Sofronov, Dmitry Bezugly, and Valery Dulov were sentenced to four years in prison, while Dmitry Fedorov, Boris Timoshov, Alexei Vasilchenko, and Ilya Bezugly were sentenced to three years in prison.

🔵The Russians were detained in Baku on July 1, 2025, amid worsening relations between Russia and Azerbaijan after Russian security forces raided members of the Azerbaijani diaspora in Yekaterinburg. Two people were killed as a result.
