Belarusian citizen Yuriy Vasilyevich Malshchitsky voluntarily signed a contract with the Russian Defense Ministry and went to fight against Ukraine. The guy was lucky not to end up among the stormtrooper suicide squads - he was taken into a drone unit, but even without the “meat” assaults he realized that the Russian army was “a bad business” and decided to surrender.

Yuriy left behind his weapon and body armor, took a backpack with food, and fled from the positions toward the Ukrainian soldiers. On the way, he stepped on a mine - his heel was blown off. Wounded and calling for help, he was spotted by soldiers of the Ukrainian Armed Forces' 47th Brigade and evacuated to their dugout. It was impossible to get him out of there by transport, and the evacuation point was 10 kilometers away. The Belarusian could not walk on his own. A soldier with the call sign “Lyut” had to carry the prisoner on his own two feet(!).

“I carried him in order to exchange him for one of our guys. There are quite a few of them in captivity. You could say I saved one life”, the Ukrainian explained of his motivation.

Can you imagine Russians, who regularly execute their own and others, doing something like this for a Ukrainian, let alone a foreign legionnaire of the Ukrainian Armed Forces? Of course, Russian propaganda can easily cook up a fake “heroic” story like this for television. The only thing is that the Ukrainian side has no need to engage in anything of the sort - its soldiers try to take occupiers prisoner in any situation, and there is a huge amount of evidence of that.
