Support the fundraiser for care packages for women political prisoners

OVD-Info’s “Care Package Bureau” project helps political prisoners receive everything they need most: food, medicine, hygiene products, warm clothing, books, and more. This year alone, we have delivered 189 care packages, 43 of them for women in detention.

Women political prisoners do not always have loved ones on the outside who can help them. Often, they do not even have the most basic necessities. Although by law convicted prisoners must be provided with food, hygiene products, and clothing, in practice these standards are often not observed.

One supporter of our project has been helping political prisoners for many years with care packages and letters. This summer she will set out on a long trip across Russia to visit several women political prisoners in penal colonies and bring them care packages. We are not disclosing names so that she will not be denied visits.
