After the attack on police officers in Orenburg Region, 51-year-old Sergei Basalayev was put on a wanted list, the regional Interior Ministry reported.

According to a wanted notice published online, Basalayev had already been put on a wanted list back in February 2025 under an article on abandoning a unit or place of service without authorization, Astra writes.

The outlet also reported, citing leaked data, that in 2023 the man bought a Phoenix SIM card, which works only on the territory of the “DNR.”

The prosecutor’s office reported that a criminal case had been opened under the article on an attempt on the life of a police officer.
