Eksmo CEO Yevgeny Kapyev and publishing house employees were released from the Investigative Committee without summonses
“They have now returned to work as normal,” the publisher’s press service reported.
According to a TASS source, Kapyev and other employees of the publishing house remain witnesses in the criminal bribery case. It is not specified what status they have in the “extremism” case.
The criminal “extremism” case over queer literature was opened in 2025 against employees of the publishing houses Popcorn Books and Individuum. Several people were placed under house arrest.
Top managers of Eksmo, including the publisher’s CEO Yevgeny Kapyev and deputy editor-in-chief for literature Yulia Sokolovskaya, were detained for questioning on April 21. TASS claimed that employees of Popcorn Books and Individuum had given testimony against them.
It was later reported that Kapyev and several employees of the publishing house were required by the Investigative Committee to come to the investigator on Monday, April 27.
